Nominations are open for the George Town Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards.
Voters will have the chance to win a $50 cash prize.
Awards based on the number of public votes received include:
■ ORS Group - Customer Service (Business): In recognition of a business that consistently provides good customer service across all staff.
■ Foot and Playstead - Customer Service (Individual): In recognition of an individual who consistently provides good customer service.
■ George Town Council - Best Tourism Business: For the business that provides the best tourism experience.
■ Heritage Isle Credit Union - Best Business Presentation: In recognition of the business that provides the best business presentation.
■ Ivan Dean MLC - Most Popular Business - in recognition of the business that receives the most public votes.
There will also be three winners in submission categories.
George Town Chamber of Commerce secretary Terri Cameron said the awards were an opportunity for residents to show their support for the region's hard-working businesses.
"The awards provide recognition for the successful businesses and organisations in George Town that excel in their field," she said.
"It's highlighting the vital contribution businesses and organisations make to the region."
George Town Chamber of Commerce president Andrew Michieletto said the mood had been positive among the business community over the last year.
"There seems to be more people around," he said.
"A lot of mainland retirees are purchasing property here and people's attitudes seem to be a lot more positive. We're starting to see some of the shops filling up with small businesses ... (and) we have a very proactive approach with the council, chamber and businesses working together."
Voting will be online via the chamber website, or by filling out the nomination forms and placing them in the ballot boxes located at various businesses in George Town.
Voting closes on July 26 and winners will be announced on August 14 at Peppers York Cove.
