The occupants of two vehicles involved in a serious crash at St Helens yesterday had a lucky escape after one of the vehicles caught fire upon impact.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Binalong Bay Road at St Helens about 5.50pm yesterday.
According to police, a white Nissan X Trail, with only one occupant, was travelling south towards St Helens and a Honda Jazz hybrid, with three occupants, was travelling towards Binalong Bay when they collided head on near Moulting Bay.
The Honda caught fire upon impact and was destroyed. The Nissan was also extensively damaged.
The occupants of both vehicles managed to escape.
All four people were taken to the St Helens District Hospital for examination, with one person being flown to the Launceston General Hospital with leg injuries.
Police say both drivers submitted to blood tests.
Northern Forensic Services and Crash Investigation Services attended the scene, the vehicles were seized and investigations are continuing.
Binalong Bay Road was closed for about six hours, but traffic was diverted around the foreshore area.
St Helens Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed either vehicle being driven before the crash by calling 6376 1122.
