The suburban Tigers bounced back from last week's loss to Bracknell to outplay the in-form Scottsdale and record a 17.11 (113) to 12.8 (80) victory.
Josh Holton kicked five goals for the home side, with Darren Maynard booting three and two each to Tom McLaren, Jack Rushton and Daniel Maynard.
Maynard was named best on ground for Rocherlea for his performance at centre half-forward, with James Cassidy, Jarad Falk, Braydon Bassett, Jacob Murphy and captain Brenton Gale other good players.
"We were pretty happy with it overall - probably a couple of spots where we weren't real good but overall pretty good," Rocherlea coach Lyndon Stubbs said.
"Our ball movement was quicker and better than what it had been, and we were able to catch their defenders out by moving the ball quicker.
"They were still in the game the whole way but we were able to kick the first two goals of the last quarter and seal it from there."
Stubbs praised Woodward's game and said he was well-supported by all of the forwards.
He said first-gamer Bassett did well on a wing in his senior debut and all their onballers were good.
Chris Carins, Joey Robinson, Russell Whitmore and Lee Nichols all kicked two goals each for the Magpies, with Elliot Tyson their best player.
It was an important victory for Rocherlea, moving them level with Bridgenorth and Scottsdale on a 6-4 record.
"It means we have beaten two of the teams above us now who are likely to be in finals, so that is a positive for us and we just need to sneak a couple more," Stubbs said.
The Tigers play Hillwood next week at Hillwood, and Stubbs said they would need to be switched on and make sure they did not allow the Sharks to jump them.
Falk injured a hamstring during the game, and that will be monitored during the week.
