DYLAN Moran's latest stand-up tour Off the Hook is one he finds hard to describe.
That's because, as the man himself says, it is forever evolving.
"It just keeps changing, these shows are just monsters that that are always changing, so I can't really say what is in it, as that is liable to change," Moran told The Sunday Examiner from his home in Edinborough.
"You can't tailor a show to everybody in the world and I am moving around a lot, but I do talk about human experiences, so I talk a lot about family and the different characters you become as life goes on from being a kid to becoming an adult, to becoming a mother or father yourself and the relationships in between.
"I have performed this show already in London, so as far as I am concerned, from here I have to start making a new show, which I have started doing already, which is actually a great feeling.
"Doing that, it means next time, those little things that you didn't quite get to or topics you didn't get to stay longer on, you get another bite of the cherry."
The Irishman, best known for writing and starring as Bernard Black in the cult comedy Black Books and films such as Run Fatboy Run, Shaun of the Dead and Calvary, will be perform his show in Launceston. He admits that Tasmania is one of his favourite places to tour.
While he was more than happy to discuss the contents of his show, his style, and how it should be viewed, describing himself is a topic he avoids.
"I don't really bother describing myself, because that would require me to step outside what I'm doing, and I don't cultivate that sort of objectivity to be able to describe what I'm doing," he said.
"In order to do what I've got to do, it is helpful not to be self-conscious so if I start how I'm going to jump off the diving board and land in the bucket, I'm liable to mess it up."
But those who do describe the comedian use words such as "unpredictable, startling, bizarre but above all, brilliant and hilariously funny".
"But I don't believe it is my job to make people happy," Moran added.
"I do go out there to try to make them laugh, but it is not my job to make them happy.
"The only pressure I feel is because I am working, and everyone feels pressure when they are working, that pressure that I want to get it right and do it my way."
Moran will perform at Launceston's Princess Theatre on Saturday, July 25.
Two nights earlier, he will perform at Hobart's Wrest Point Casino.
Limited seats are available for the Launceston show from the Theatre North Box Office on 6323 3666.
Tickets are $89.90 for premium and $79.90 and A reserve.
