The town held its annual Biggest Morning Tea early this month, which saw about 70 people raise $1800 for cancer support.

Event organiser Simone Rowbottom said the contributed money brought the total raised to about $5000 over four years.

"We started it when my dad was first diagnosed with cancer. It's something we thought we wanted to do," Mrs Rowbottom said.

"It's been well supported by the community, that's for sure."

She said her father died from the illness in December last year, and she would continue to hold events to assist the cause.

"Everyone always seems to think the Cancer Council is a good cause; everyone knows someone who's been affected," Mrs Rowbottom said.

"My mum, sister and myself do most of the cooking in the few weeks leading up to the event - we always have community members donate a plate of food as well."

She said a lucky door prize and raffle were held at this year's event to help boost money raised.

"People could pay anything for entry. We encouraged them to put in whatever they felt like they wanted to donate," Mrs Rowbottom said.

"It's become a bit of a thing now. People come into my shop and ask me when we're having the morning tea. I think they look forward to it a little bit.

"A lot of the elderly people like to use it to catch up with people they haven't seen in a long time."

The morning tea was held at Cressy Community Hall on June 1.
