St Pats triumphed 12.12 (84) to 7.11 (53) to claim a record fifth-straight firsts flag for the school.

And to top off a day of ascendancy for Northern independent schools, Scotch Oakburn College thrashed Hutchins by 108 points to win the senior seconds grand final 15.20 (110) to 0.2 (2).

"It was closely-fought in the first half and Hutchins were extremely competitive and were spreading very well and nullifying our forward entries," St Pats senior firsts coach Laine Cleaver said.

"We probably had the majority of the play but they would turn it over and score goals to get back into it and I think we were up by about seven points at half-time.

"But our boys stepped up a gear and dug deep in the second half and Hutchins with some taller, bigger boys ran out of puff a bit and we ran away with it."

Cleaver praised the efforts of Luke Tucker as St Pats' best player starting at centre half-back and moving into the ruck.

Callum Walker at centre half-forward and in the ruck, Curtis Murfett and Adam Linford in the midfield, Oliver Smith at half-forward and Dom Shegog in defence were other good players.

Walker finished with four goals and Dylan Jones three.

"For our senior boys that is five-straight premierships and to our knowledge that has not happened since 1963 when the Shield started," Cleaver said.

"It's special obviously for our year 12s and our captain Shaughan Killalea who has played in his third premiership in a row."

In the seconds grand final, Jacob Anthony, Luke Good and Jack Hunt kicked three goals each for Scotch Oakburn with Braydon Rainbow, Hamish Lockett, Carlton Heres, Will Headlam and Hunt in their best players.
