The team came to support the school, as well as its staff and families, by treating them to a family day out.
Giant Steps principal Tim Chugg said they were appreciative of the team and presented them with a special gift of framed artwork from one of their students and a certificate of appreciation.
"The Rapid Relief Team organised food, drink, games and rides for our children and our staff helped out with supervision and some sensory activities," Mr Chugg said.
"It was a great day and a wonderful opportunity for our families to get out and about in a low-stress autism-friendly environment."
He said they were able to relax due to the welcoming and empathetic nature of the team members.
"The crew were great and we all felt so spoilt being waited on all day," he said.
"The staff and the children wanted to give something back for the day and the certificate and painting would go some of the way to expressing how grateful they were."
Giant Steps curriculum co-ordinator Vanessa Harvey said the appreciation for their work was clear.
"The smiles on the faces of our students were fantastic," Ms Harvey said.
"The community members who also attended such as police, fire brigade, ambulance and the helicopter pilot generously provided an occasion where the Giant Steps community could enjoy themselves in a wonderful atmosphere of acceptance and fun.
"It was a great day."
