For about four years committed community members have lobbied for funding to upgrade the Deviot Hall.
After finally securing the significant funding required to refurbish the facility, the Deviot Community Association has taken the final step towards its reconstruction.
Deviot Community Association secretary Greg Ellick said it was hoped construction would start on the hall by the end of the month.
The group plans to install indoor toilets, build storage and upgrade the kitchen to a commercial standard.
Building material donations and community pledges have been complemented with $75,000 from the Tasmanian Community Fund, $50,000 from the West Tamar Council and $20,000 from the WD Booth Trust.
The hall was constructed in 1921 and has been used in more recent times for community events, U3A classes and regular markets.
"There's no shops, hence the hall is the centre of our community and we want to bring it up to current standards," Mr Ellick said.
"We tried four times with the Tasmanian Community Fund and won - the first time we went for $200,000-odd and got to the presenting at the board stage and pegged it back."
A federal government grant will also see solar panels installed on the hall.
Mr Ellick said although the bulk of funds had been raised, more money would be welcomed.
He said the association would continue to explore other funding and grant providers to make up for blown-out preliminary costs.
He said it had been revealed the septic system crossed the association's two plots leaving the association to undertake work to have the plots consolidated.
Mr Ellick said the people involved felt excitement at the prospect of finally enjoying their new hall.
"The hall's going to be totally rejuvenated," he said.
Submissions to the development application closes June 18.
