The Tasmanian Greens remain in limbo again this week, with a replacement for former Bass MHA Kim Booth not known until the results of a recount are made public on June 9.
Political analyst Kevin Bonham has tipped the race to be between former Greens staffer Amy Tyler, who was the endorsed number two candidate, and Alderman Dawkins who received the most primary votes.
The Examiner understands Ms Tyler won't nominate for the position, which could pave the way for Alderman Dawkins, who was only elected to council last year, to enter Parliament.
Anti-pulp mill activist Anne Layton-Bennett, environmental consultant Anna Povey, Alderman Dawkins and Ms Tyler all have about 130 votes separating them.
The party room won't pick a new leader until a Bass member has been determined, but it's expected Denison MHA Cassy O'Connor will take it on.
Bass candidates who were unsuccessful at the 2014 election have been called to contest the recount after Mr Booth announced his shock resignation earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Hobart City Council alderman Anna Reynolds has become the sixth candidate to throw her hat in the ring for the Senate spot to be left vacant by former Australian Greens leader Christine Milne.
Franklin MHA Nick McKim is tipped to be the successor, creating another vacancy in State Parliament.
Greens convener Austra Maddox said nominations for the Senate spot closed on June 12, and some people were still weighing up their options.
"We're in a bit of a limbo period," Ms Maddox said.
"We just have to wait now," she said.
