The Magpies are still celebrating their first win in the competition in more than three years after beating the Tamar Cats last weekend and senior coach Damien Rhind said congratulations had come from far and wide.

"The response has been great and we've had football people around the state and even from the mainland contact us," Rhind said.

"It has been a boost for the whole club and for the morale of the players - but probably soured by the news of the death of one of our former premiership players in Patrick Baker and we will be wearing black arm bands this week in his honour.

"But the club has certainly livened up with the win - the committee and volunteers - and it is a shot in the arm for all the hard work everyone has been doing since late last year."

Rhind said the Magpies were keen to add to their tally of wins in the remainder of the season.

The pink socks day on Sunday will support the Jane McGrath Foundation and players from both teams will don the colour.

"We're looking forward to playing Prospect on our home ground and they beat last year's premiers last week," Rhind said.

A barbecue will be held to raise money and Perth president Joey Maloney said donation tins would be taken around the crowd during the day.

"We want to raise the community spirit in the Perth footy club and help out the people who have been touched by this particular cancer," he said.

"It is the first time the club has held such a fundraiser - we will have pink goal posts as well - and as much as we can raise, it all goes to a good cause."
