Front and centre of Treasurer Peter Gutwein's second budget is a $315 million jobs creation package, which includes a $60 million Northern cities initiative which takes effect next year.
Tasmania's North and North East will receive $90 million for infrastructure projects, including public health and education facilities.
The state's co-ordinator general will be given an extra $2.8 million to help plan major projects.
The government is hoping to create an extra 8000 jobs, and attract Tasmanians working on the mainland back to their home state.
