Event chairman Chris Draffin has confirmed that the committee have considered the idea of expanding the event once more.

The event first began as the Bay of Fires Art Prize in 2012, but grew into an annual festival last year.

Mr Draffin believes ongoing success will see a need for the festival to keep growing.

"We think the festival has the potential to grow into a major event," he said.

"We can now call the event a festival, and this is a trend that we want to see continue, but we want it to grow organically - we don't want to force it."

This year will see several new features added to the festival, including a festival lounge and artist studio tours.

Mr Draffin said the expanded event was a trial, in an attempt to provide something for everyone.

"If it goes well, then we'll trial some new stuff this year. We're running an increased program.

"Everything is growing bigger and bigger. It's always worth a look."

If the planned expansion went ahead in the coming years, one of the first new features to be added would be an East Coast "arts trail", Mr Draffin said.

"We want to extend an arts trail all the way down the East Coast.

"We want to have all the East Coast vineyards open for that weekend, so we can start promoting East Coast indulgence."

The Bay of Fires Winter Arts Festival will be held from June 5 to 8.
