The West Tamar Council held a recognition evening on May 13 at Windsor Community Precinct, Riverside.
About 80 people attended the celebration, including volunteers from tourism, recreation, and child and family services.
Volunteering Tasmania's Wayne Bailey-Walford and West Tamar Visitor Centre volunteer Roslyn Burr spoke to the crowd.
Council community development officer Kaitlin Roach said many services within the Tamar Valley would not exist without the efforts of volunteers.
She said Tamar Island had recorded 75,000 volunteer hours over the past 15 years.
Representatives from the Beaconsfield Child and Family Centre, Beaconsfield Mine and Heritage Centre, Windsor Community Hub, the West Tamar Community Car and the Tamar Island Wetland Centre attended.
George Town Council recognised its volunteers on May 12.
About 40 people attended the function held at the Jim Mooney Gallery.
South George Town Primary School volunteer Jessica Trimen was announced volunteer of the year.
Ms Trimen has volunteered at the school for the past nine years, supporting pupils from prep to Grade 6 with literacy, maths, science, history and geography.
Mayor Bridget Archer said the award was given in recognition of Ms Trimen overcoming her own challenges in helping the school.
George Town Child and Family Centre volunteer Vicki Axton, Community Hub volunteers Roy Doherty, Peter Doyle and Paul Williams, George Town RSL volunteer Peter Harley, George Town Junior Football Club and South George Town Primary School volunteer Lisa Schreuder and Ainslie House Low Head volunteer Beryl Tiernan were also recognised.
Cr Archer encouraged members of the community to continue spreading comfort and care throughout the municipality.
