The 18-year-old, local talent has been involved in the Tornadoes program over the past three or four seasons while pursuing her love of basketball at Riverside High and Launceston College.
‘‘I am excited about this opportunity for my first road trip,’’ Howe said.
‘‘It’s been a good season so far and a really good team environment to be a part of and all the other players are helpful and supportive at training.
‘‘I’m pretty happy with the way I am playing and contributing to the team where I can and I look forward to contributing further this weekend as we strive for two wins.’’
Studying nursing at university, Howe is a talented scorer with a great three-point range and will be an integral player for the Torns over the next three or four years and beyond.
She has impressed Tornadoes coach Reece Potter with her hard work this season as she develops her game improving her physicality and toughness against bigger bodied players.
‘‘Her confidence in her ability to play at SEABL level is growing each week,’’ Potter said.
‘‘She demonstrated this through her contributions off the bench in our wins against both Hobart and Canberra.’’
With successive wins over Hobart and Canberra the Tornadoes will look to build on that winning momentum in their double-header against Kilsyth, which has won eight games straight and heads the southern conference and Frankston, which sits outside the top four.
‘‘Frankston will be desperate to protect their home court and get a win to stay in reach of a play-off position,’’ Potter said.
‘‘It is not going to be an easy game but this is one I believe we can win and need to in order to keep our goal of making play-offs for the first time since 2010.’’
