Former Kouklas owner Cathy McCarthy has opened for business again at Gravelly Beach - only this time it's Hooked on Kouklas, a fish and chip shop with a twist.
Old and new customers have flocked to the new shop up the road from her former business.
Ms McCarthy now offers takeway seafood, chips, breakfasts, lasagnes and spinach pies, as well as coffee and cakes.
Seasonal produce and seafood from George Town Seafoods feature on the menu.
"I had 11 months off for the building to be built and here we are," Ms McCarthy said.
"I decided to go back to fish and chips. People had been at me for 10 years (at Kouklas) to do them, but I said it doesn't work there.
"As things go on, I will develop and introduce new things."
Ms McCarthy said new and old customers were attracted toHooked on Kouklas.
"It's been a huge adjustment, but the fact we do takeaway is really good because customers are in and out and they can sit down if they want to," she said.
"It's a lot more relaxed."
Ms McCarthy said she spent almost a month on the mainland after shutting up shop at Kouklas, the business she ran successfully for a decade.
Hooked on Kouklas will re-open for dinners by booking only the third Thursday every month from this week.
