The Launceston Auskick kids formed a guard of honour for Blues coach Scott Stephens when the team entered the field and North players lined up to clap him off after his 200th game – but that was as far as the highlights went for the Blues as the Northern Bombers kicked 24.16 (160) to Launceston’s 6.5 (41).

North showed what a well-coached, well-drilled and disciplined unit they are to record their fifth win of the season in a performance that pleased coach Zane Littlejohn.

The Bombers again had contributors across the board with multiple options to goal whereas the Blues found goals harder to find to gain reward for their effort.

‘‘I say it a fair bit but when we have 22 contributors we are a pretty competitive side and we are going to win most games so that was pleasing for us that there were a lot of contributors across the ground and 22 players who played their role.’’

North kicked the first nine goals of the game before Jordan Harris slotted through Launceston’s first at the 10-minute mark of the second quarter.

They led by 43 points at quarter-time, extended it to 57 at half-time and kicked 12 goals to two in the second half to blow the final margin out to 119 points.

Ethan Petterwood, Jay Lockhart, Allan O’Sign, Daniel Roozendaal, Taylor Whitford and Josh Holland were just some of the Bombers’ long list of good players.

O’Sign kicked four goals for the Bombers with three each to Petterwood and Zach Burt and doubles to Walsh, Tom Bennett, Ben Elmer and Tom Loone among 12 goalkickers while the outclassed Blues had four single goalkickers.

The effort of the young Blues side missing the experience of Sonny Whiting, Brennan Savage and Tom Claridge could not be questioned but skill errors and turn-overs plagued them in dewy and slippery conditions under North’s relentless pressure.

Stephens was one of the Blues best in his 200th game along with Joe Boyce and Joe Groenewegen.
