More than 45 works were last week hung for a joint art exhibition from Launceston Arts Group members Jack James and Lynne Hutchins.
Hutchins said a selection of her father's oils and her own pieces - in various mediums - were included in the exhibition.
"Dad does oils, mainly Tasmanian landscapes and seascapes," she said.
"I've got work done in pastels, charcoal, hen pointillism, and I've got some acrylic out there as well, and some watercolours."
Hutchins said they had done several exhibitions together in the past few years.
"Dad didn't start painting until he was 65 years old, he's 85 now," she said.
"He won the Tasmanian Art Award in 2008, I've won a few awards and things over the years as well - but I've been painting my whole life."
She said her father started painting after a back injury meant he could no longer spend time working in the garden.
"He kept saying 'what am I going to do with myself?'," Hutchins said.
"I suggested he get painting lessons, he always liked coming to exhibitions with me.
"He got some lessons and started painting with Greg Waddle . . . now he sits in his garage at home and paints about five days a week."
She said the exhibition would be open at Deloraine Creative Studios until the end of May.
