Campbell Town, Ross and Epping Forest residents remained without power on Tuesday night.
An intense low pressure system to the south-west of Tasmania was predicted to pass to the state’s South last night.
A cold front associated with the low crossed Tasmania’s west.
Gusts of up to 120km/h were recorded by the Bureau of Meteorology. Damaging winds continued last night but were expected to ease this morning.
State Emergency Service Northern regional officer Mhairi Revie said the service attended several minor incidents, including trees across roads and driveways.
‘‘It was expected – we got a good heads-up from the BOM so we prepared, particularly on roads,’’ she said.
‘‘We would urge people over the coming few days, only if it’s safe to do so with the weather, to do some preparedness work around their homes. ‘‘We also ask that people are driving to the conditions ... driving through floodwater is not worth the risk.’’
