Julien Tempone-Wiltshire, 24, and Jenny Davson-Galle, 29, have not been heard from since the biggest earthquake in more than 80 years hit near Kathmandu on Saturday.

On Monday, concern poured in for Red Cross care worker Ms Davson-Galle on social media.

"All the people who she has helped in some way have all expressed love and concern for her," Melinda Antal, a close friend of Ms Davson-Galle told The Examiner.

In Launceston, fundraising efforts have begun for the victims of the earthquake.

Northern Tasmania's Bhutanese community rallied together on Monday to door-knock for funds, in an effort to raise at least $2000 by Tuesday night.

"We pray for the Australians that are over there as well and the people from Launceston," Bhutanese migrant Shiva Achraya said.

More than 1000 people have been listed as missing by the Red Cross Family Links website, while one Australia has been confirmed dead.

At least 12 Tasmanians are believed to have been in Nepal at the time of the earthquake.

Launceston's Amy Barnes, 23, Isabelle Roberts, 22, Jennifer Shaw, 49, and Tom Goddard, 21, have all been found alive and well in Nepal.
