Beaconsfield RSL sub-branch treasurer Colin Smee said there were more than 400 people at the early morning event, which usually attracted about 100 people.
The 11am service was opened by West Tamar Mayor Christina Holmdahl, with speeches from Commodore Andrew John Marcus Smith, AM, and Major Nicholas Chantler, AM.
Speeches were also given by Anthony Dusautoy and Brooke Waterhouse from Exeter High School, and a poetry reading was given by Beaconsfield Primary School pupil Brayden Hjort.
An estimated 600 people attended the 11am service.
FIVE HUNDRED people attended Exeter's dawn service, with similar numbers repeated at the 11am commemoration.
Exeter RSL president Arthur Kingston said that was a very big crowd for Exeter.
"It was wonderful," he said.
"It should grow from now because a lot more people are aware of it."
A total of 26 wreath were laid at Exeter and 163 attended the "lovely" breakfast.
Mr Kingston said Exeter High School students played a big part in both the services.
