INATTENTION was the cause of a crash in Newstead on Friday night, police say.

Just after 10pm, a silver Ford Sedan slammed into a power pole at the intersection of Penquite Road and Amy Road.
The impact snapped the pole at ground level and caused extensive damage to adjoining power poles and lines.
The driver was the only occupant of the car and was taken to Launceston General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police intend to speak to the man.
As a result of the crash, extensive work will need to be carried out on a number of power poles in the general area.
The power will be off in the immediate area until late Saturday afternoon, April 25.
Police said all motorists should avoid the intersection of Penquite Road and Lantana Avenue, Amy Road and Helen Street and Penquite Road and Docking Court, near Scotch Oakburn College.
