At 5am today, the students will be standing at the Villers-Bretonneux Australian National Memorial in France.
To recognise 100 years since the Anzac troops landed at Gallipoli, the students have spent the past two weeks in France preparing for the dawn service.
Scotch Oakburn College year 10 student Victoria Eastoe, 15, said she believed the service would be an emotional one, but something that she would never forget.
‘‘It’s been something that we’ve been looking forward to – it’s not a happy occasion but it will be the most memorable part of our trip,’’ Victoria said.
‘‘It will be really emotional and really surreal to be there.
‘‘This trip has been amazing. It’s the best time of our lives and we’re all having an absolute ball.’’
Science teacher Kate Gard has accompanied the group on the trip and said it had been the experience of a lifetime for the students.
‘‘We’re all incredibly aware of the occasion at the memorial and what a privilege it is to go,’’ Ms Gard said.
‘‘I think all the students are anticipating that it will be extremely moving.’’
