Schools from across the state were represented in a full program of track and field events with about 3000 competitors, spectators and volunteers in attendance.
In the major city associations competition, the combined Hobart team narrowly defeated their Launceston counterpart finishing on 449 points to 414, with the North-West third on 345.
The combined country associations division was won by the Northern Midlands team on 383 points with Huon and Channel finishing second on 344, followed by Tamar on 287, East North-East 279 and Circular Head on 152.
"It was a successful event and the rain stopped enough after the first half an hour that we were basically dry for most of the day, but still damp underfoot," carnival co-ordinator Justin Cudmore said.
The state carnival was put on by Primary School Sport Tasmania and Cudmore thanked all the volunteers who made the competition possible.
