Peanut Butter
HOW could an album named after the second best spread possibly be bad?
While Joanna Gruesome's second album isn't as good as the real peanut butter, it's pretty palatable.
This is a release for people who don't have a whole lot of time.
Only one song breaks the three-minute mark, and an episode of Home and Away goes for longer than the whole album.
The 10 tracks from the Welsh group (four blokes and a chick singer) are all jangly and little yelps and indie-pop flavours chucked together.
There's some touches of guts in Jerome (Liar), Psykick Espionage and Crayon, and opening track Last Year has a lot of people excited. I definitely warm to a handful of the tracks, but the vocals are just a touch too whimsy for me, and having me wincing.
