The Hawks led by two points at quarter time but kicked nine goals to four in the second term to blow the margin out to 35 points and ran rampant with eight goals to two in the second half to record a commanding victory 19.13 (127) to 8.9 (57), in front of a crowd of 15,559.
Jarryd Roughead finished with seven goals to be one of the Hawks best with captain Luke Hodge leading from the front in a best-on-ground performance with a game-high 44 disposals and two goals.
Tom Boyd booted three goals for the Western Bulldogs as their only effective forward with the Dogs disadvantaged by injuries losing Marcus Bontempelli pre-game and Dale Morris to a shoulder injury and Mitch Wallis to a back problem just before half-time.
The victory was the Hawks third of the season and extended their winning run at Aurora Stadium to 12 straight.
