A horde of moaning zombies dressed in tattered clothes, covered in wounds and dripping with blood stormed Launceston yesterday for the sixth annual Launceston Zombie Walk.
Zombie hunters led the pack through the city from City Park.
Innocent bystanders gawked and took photographs as the group stumbled through Harvest Market and took to the Brisbane Street Mall.
First-time participants Lisa Getti and Leigh Harper said they collected accessories for the event from local businesses.
‘‘We just thought ‘Why not?’,’’ Ms Getti said.
Zombie Walk organiser Dylan Wall said the event was a chance for people to get together and have fun.
He said participants were asked not to scare children but instead provide a unique form of entertainment.
‘‘We want to give people a good time,’’ Mr Wall said.
‘‘It’s something to do – it gives people a reason to get out of the house and have a good time.’’
