Launceston DJ Ryan Farrington, aka Akouo, on Wednesday announced his addition to the massive music event via Facebook.
The news was met with an avalanche of likes, comments, phone texts and more from friends and fans of the dedicated musician.
Farrington will join acts such as Blur, Tame Impala, The Dandy Warhols and Earl Sweatshirt.
"I'm looking forward to it man, it's going to be crazy," he said.
"I got a call yesterday morning from my manager, he said I was on the line-up - I was like, 'holy shit'."
His addition has been hailed by many as the first ever Tasmanian-based act to feature on the bill - a coup for the state's music scene.
"I didn't understand the gravity of it all until people started texting me and hitting me up on Facebook," Farrington said.
"I didn't realise that - had no idea, everyone's been super supportive. I think they are celebrating it more so than myself."
He said Tasmanian artists needed to work smarter to break through the state's glass ceiling.
"You have to work harder if you're from Tasmania," he said.
"You have to take more opportunities that are not necessarily presented to you . . . you spend a lot of money on travel."
Splendour in the Grass will run at Wooyung, north of Byron Bay, from July 24 to 26. Crowds of up to 27,500 are expected at each day of the festival.
