"That's my job," he said.
"And I won't leave until the job is done."
Randy, who said he is not related to The Muppets - "there are some similarities but it's like asking a redhead whether they are related to other redheads" - is the headlining act of this month's Fresh Comedy.
The gig is at Fresh, 178 Charles Street, Launceston, on April 24, and Randy is brought to life by Australian puppeteer Heath McIvor.
He heads to Launceston, not for the first time, with a stream of accolades under his fuzzy skin.
Randy hosted the Sydney Comedy Festival Gala last year, starred in the SBS cult show The Full Brazilian and has collected the best comedy award at the Perth Fringe Festival.
More recently it was announced that Randy and his comic duo Sammy J will star in their own ABC-TV television show in June.
Randy described his comedic style as pretty straight up and down stand-up comedy, and a little bit absurd.
"It is fast-paced, rapid-fire stand-up. I'm not super political. I don't do one liners. I talk to the crowd a lot, I guess I try and talk about stuff that affects me.
"The intricacies of human stupidity, the dawn of mankind and womankind, everything in life is a joke, really, you can make everything funny."
Randy said it was comedy that makes you go "ughh" but makes you laugh.
"It's not uncomfortable but you walk away going 'I never quite thought about it like that.' And I aspire to doing comedy that has a bit of an edge to it. I like comedy that makes you think a bit."
Perhaps the beginnings of these thoughtful comedic interests come from Randy's background in Buddhism, which he said, began in Launceston.
"I went to a Buddhist retreat in Launceston in 1986, and that is where I decided that comedy was going to be my saviour.
"After that I came back to Launceston every three years on a pilgrimage. I swim over from the mainland every August because it is the coldest time to swim between Victoria and Tasmania, and go up to the bush retreats."
Randy said if people wanted to keep the comedy coming, they should keep coming to the comedy.
"Hard crowds aren't a thing. There are such things as embracing a situation and spinning it together to your advantage so everyone has a good time," he said.
It seems Randy takes the business of funny pretty seriously.
"If they are not laughing, it's my fault."
