Cobain: Montage of Heck will screen at Village Cinemas from May 7 to 10.
The documentary-makers have promised fans never-before-seen home movies and revelatory interviews with his close friends and confidantes, including wife Courtney Love.
Launceston man Jason Beane has already bought his ticket to the Northern screening.
He explained that his love for Nirvana started about the same time he first picked up a guitar in high school.
"I'm excited to see it [Cobain: Montage of Heck] and hope that it's not just a bunch of cliched rubbish," Mr Beane said.
"I'm dead curious to hear about the unreleased couple of songs and the childhood things.
"It'll be nice to see things you might not have already known."
