TO put it into perspective, George Bailey was in nappies the last time Tasmania had no on-field involvement in an Ashes series.

That lack of participation is what is facing the state after yesterday's squad announcement for the upcoming five-Test series against England.
No Tigers made the 17-man squad for the battle against the old enemy, which begins on July 8 in Cardiff, with World Cup hero James Faulkner the notable omission.
The same squad (minus Ryan Harris, who will stay in Australia for the birth of his child) will be used for the two-Test series in the West Indies that precedes it.
The last time an Australia-England series had no Tasmanian either playing or in a travelling squad was in 1982-83, when the Greg Chappell-led Australians won 2-1 at home.
This was about two years before David Boon would make his Test debut.
Current Tigers skipper Bailey was born in September 1982, about three months before that series started.
National selector Rod Marsh yesterday said leaving Faulkner out, who was the player-of-the-match in the World Cup final thanks to his haul of 3-36, had a lot to do with his lack of first-class cricket.
The 24-year-old played his sole Test on the last Ashes tour in 2013, scoring 45 runs in quick time over two innings and taking six wickets.
"It's not his fault that he's not played any red-ball cricket," Marsh said.
"Glenn Maxwell (who also missed selection) is another one who hasn't played much red-ball cricket and we're giving Glenn some.
"We've also got hopeful plans, which I can't reveal right now, for Jimmy Faulkner.
"He'll be right, he's a hell of a good cricketer. He's a hard man to keep down as we know.
"We certainly haven't forgotten him, put it that way."
Paceman Jackson Bird, who played on the last Ashes tour in 2013, was also overlooked.
Bird, Bailey, Faulkner, Ed Cowan (the in-form opener who recently quit the state for his native New South Wales), Ben Hilfenhaus, Xavier Doherty and Ricky Ponting are among the Tasmanians to have featured in Ashes series and squads in recent times.
It wasn't all bad news for the state yesterday, with Bailey and Faulkner named on the 2015-16 CA contracts list, and quick Andrew Fekete making the Australia A four-day squad to tour India in July.
The contracting of Bailey and Faulkner means the Tigers will now be able to finalise their list for next summer, which could be announced next week.
