Completing a sensational week for the state at Penrith, the crew of Ella Flecker, Georgia Nesbitt, Alexandra Hayes (all Huon) and Tamar's Annabel Gibson dealt with the lane intrusion when the NSW stroke caught a crab to storm home.
Huon's Kerry Hore also completed an excellent week's campaign when she collected a silver medal just three seconds behind her former national crewmate, Victoria's dual 2012 Olympic medallist Kim Crow, in the women's single.
Buckingham's Max McQueeney completed a set of medals for the state when he won bronze behind NSW winner Alexander Beloganoff in the President's Cup.
The Queensland crew, which won the lightweight men's coxless four Penrith Cup included TIS scholarship-holders Darren Purcell and Nick Silcox, while a young Tasmanian crew of Oli Cook (Tamar), Brendan Longman (Tamar), Toby Pitt (Huon) and Daniel Bloomfield (Buckingham) came fifth.
London Olympic silver medallist Kate Hornsey completed her rowing career as stroke of the Tasmanian crew, which finished fifth in a women's eight Queen's Cup won by Queensland.
"It was a nice way for Kate to finish her rowing career and she really enjoyed the experience of being in with the younger girls," reported Rowing Tasmania development officer Rob Prescott.
"The future looks really rosy for Tasmanian rowing. It's been a really good team effort from the whole Tasmanian rowing community."
The state finished seventh in a Kings Cup, which was won by Victoria, while the Scotch Oakburn crew stroked by Hugh McShane came second in the B final of the schoolboys eight.
"That's a great result for the Tasmanian boys under James Russell's coaching to prove competitive on the national stage," Prescott added.
