Chaz Mostert managed to hold onto second place and Shane van Gisbergen came in third.
EARLIER: WITH just minutes to go until the big race, the Kemp family are settling in for a entertainment-filled afternoon.
Since 2008 the Snug family of seven have made the trip up North especially to watch the Tasmania SuperSprint.
Jacob Kemp, 11, said he loved coming to catch the Supercars.
"My favourite part is coming to watch the V8s," Jacob said.
"We got to meet some drivers and visit the pits and that was awesome."
Craig Lowndes and Scott McLaughlin were among the favourite drivers between the family's five children.
In the opening moments of the race Lowndes was in the lead, closely followed by Jamie Whincup in second and Shane van Gisbergen in third.
After he made contact David Reynolds in the first few seconds of the race, Lowndes was quickly given a time penalty that took him back to last place.
