Mayor Albert van Zetten, general manager Robert Dobrzynski and economic development officer Bruce Williams have spent the past week in China visiting a number of locations aimed at developing a relationship with the country.
They are expected to join with Premier Will Hodgman's delegation in Fuzhou, to discuss various opportunities with Chinese counterparts.
The trip for council has taken in visits to the Putian Municipal Education Bureau and University, fibre production plant Sateri, Mandy Fisheries, Yonghui Supermarket chain and meetings with municipal leaders in Putian, Taiyuan and Fuzhou.
The visit will also be used to reconnect with sister city Taiyuan.
The cost of the trip to the council was $11,436 for the three representatives.
The visit to China tied in with the launch of the Australia China Business Week 2015 in Hobart yesterday.
The week gives Tasmanian business people an opportunity to learn how to break into the Chinese market.
Acting Premier Jeremy Rockliff said senior officials from the Fujian Department of Commerce were also attending and would visit wineries and farms.
