BROTHERS Will and Alex Davison are preparing to celebrate their grandfather’s legacy at Longford.
The pair will complete speed demonstrations in the Erebus Motorsport Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 at this year’s Longford Revival Festival, along both the ‘‘flying mile’’ and street stages.
Their grandfather, former four-time Australian Grand Prix winner Lex Davison, is known for crashing into the wall of the Country Club Hotel at Longford during a practice session in 1962.
Grandfather Davison was reported to have dusted himself off and walked inside the bar for a brandy.
Will said he hoped he and his brother could ‘‘put on a show’’ at Longford during the three-day festival.
‘‘We are really excited to be attending such a traditional and historic motor sport event that has a special place in our family’s history,’’ he said.
‘‘The Longford area really means a lot to our family and we have grown up hearing all the stories over the years.
‘‘The tale about the pub is such a unique one and we’ve been inside the pub and seen all the memorabilia.’’
Tickets for the March 20-22 Longford Revival Festival are on sale now. More information is available at www.longfordrevival.com.au.
