TASMANIA Fire Service plans to ''ramp up'' the number of crews fighting a bushfire at Lefroy on Thursday night as it prepares for up to 100km/h winds.
TFS incident controller Steve Lowe said at a 4pm press conference on Thursday afternoon that winds were expected to pick up between 9pm and midnight, although he said he didn't expect any more houses to be put under threat.
``It will put pressure on our fire boundaries, which we haven't had a lot of time to consolidate given where the fire ran to late yesterday,'' he said.
``We don't except we'll have any properties under threat if we can hold the fire where it is.
``If the fire does take a run, we expect it to take a run to the North of the Beechford community and push more towards the Stony Head Artillery Range.
``If we need to move people we will do that, but we don't foresee that we will need to do that.''
At least 12 crews will work overnight, although that is expected to increase.
About 100 people have been fighting the fire today, with five choppers used.
