For the first time, one of the victims has spoken out about the attack he describes as "traumatic" due to its severity and indiscriminate nature. One man was left with a broken leg requiring as many as three operations to repair and another with a broken wrist as a result of an attack allegedly perpetrated by rival supporters in Parramatta on Saturday night.

The Sydney man - who requested not to be identified - told Fairfax Media he and three friends were surrounded by a large group of men near Parramatta Station. He says he was struck to the ground by a king-hit from the side before being beaten on the ground by numerous attackers. He was shocked to have only suffered cuts, bruises and other minor injuries as a result of an incident he says could have been much worse given the degree of violence.

"We were really lucky to get away with what we did because somebody could've been dead, somebody could have suffered serious brain damage. I was literally face down on the ground being stomped on by these guys. The fact I could go to work on Monday was a miracle," he said.

Wearing Sydney FC scarfs and casual clothes, the man believes he and his friends were targeted as they were walking in isolation ahead of a large group of Sydney fans from the stadium to the station. He says they didn't have time to exchange words before being attacked.

"A huge group of guys turned the corner in front of us. These guys were huge males, all wearing black, some with firm symbols of groups related to the RBB," he said. "From that stage I got king-hit from the side ... I came to the ground and I was kicked at, stomped on. I remember copping a few kicks to the face and then the next thing I remember was being on the ground with blood everywhere and nobody around."

The man's friend who suffered a broken wrist says he was injured while protecting his face from the attackers kicking him while lying on the ground.

"Another friend of mine - and this was probably the most shocking thing of the whole incident - had his arm broken as his arm was covering his face at the time [of the attack]. I hate to think what would have happened if his arm wasn't protecting his face," he said.

The Football Federation of Australia, NSW Police, Western Sydney Wanderers, venue security and Sydney FC are working together to identify the alleged attackers, who face criminal charges and bans from attending games. It's understood the FFA is assessing existing security measures for ensuring fans' safety at games between the two clubs.
