WHO: The Vendettas.
WHERE: Iron Horse Bar and Grill at Prospect with Brett Collidge, Bullethouse and Bucknasty on Friday, March 13.
Club 54, Launceston, with The Styles and Bennylava on Friday, March 13.
The Brisbane Hotel, Hobart, with The Styles and Three Eyed Monster on Saturday, March 14.
THE Vendettas have changed on their latest album Bystander and Destroyer, but not dramatically enough that they have lost their identity.
As the rock outfit prepares to return to Tasmania to share this new album, vocalist and guitarist, Jared (Jaz) Mattern told X-static that their second full-length release had a significant point of difference.
"We took the approach on this one that the song took precedence more so than the music," Jaz said.
"Our last album was our first one, so it was our first effort, and a first effort for a few of us of recording at all, so there was the tendency to act on more of an individual basis, but this time we acted more as a band.
"I wouldn't say that we have changed direction completely, but due to the fact that we have gotten older and have taken on some different influences, we have progressed musically.
"We are really excited about how it has turned out and I know it is very cliché, but I feel we have grown as musicians.
"A lot of the songs are still rock 'n' roll based, but some of them have just gone into some lighter areas, and I feel that has broadened our audience."
Jaz, who is originally from Launceston, and the band will play in the city next week, performing at Prospect's Iron Horse Bar and Grill and Club 54, on Friday, March 13.
"We have been back to Tasmania on two other occasions and coming back was something we wanted to do for this album.
"I have an emotional connection with Tasmania as all my family lives in Tasmania and it is nice to bring it back to them and show what I have been up to.
"We're coming down with the intention to throw ourselves out there and really get the crowd involved, hopefully sell a few albums, drink a few beers and some make new friends."
Copies of the album will be available from all shows.
