More than 100 guns were seized, along with a large quantity of ammunition.
It will be alleged that the store, which traded in firearms, did not comply with the following requirements of the act:
- The licenced firearms dealer and business proprietor had sold a number of firearms without registering them, as is required under the Act.
- The dealer failed to account for a number of firearms recorded on his dealer’s licence, which were not present on the retail premises.
- Other requirements of the Firearms Act including maintaining a “Record of Dealings” and a “Firearms Transmission Register” had not been met.
Police said the seizure was part on an ongoing investigation.
Detective Senior Sergeant David Chapman said: "“The Firearms Act ensures that transactions of firearms are registered and accounted for, that firearms are registered and sold to licence holders and do not end up in the hands of inappropriate people."
The business owner's firearms dealer license has been suspended.
Inquiries are continuing.
