The event will provide information regarding a wide variety of tomato breeds and also include notable Tasmanian gardening guest speakers.

ABC's Gardening Australia host Tino Carnevale and Spout Tasmania president co-founder Tony Scherer will be among presenters, said festival organisers Annette and Nevil Reed.

"The festival is part of my Rural Women's Award project for this year," Mrs Reed said.

"I planned on doing it last year, but bad weather stopped us, so we've incorporated it into the award — it's our first and hopefully not our last."

The couple own Selbourne's Natural Garlic and Tomatoes, which will host the event.

"I know we've got a lot of interest, especially the idea of the tomato side of things and having so many varieties," Mrs Reed said.

"We'll be doing some tours, talking about pruning, growing tomatoes, picking, seed saving and how to plant garlic."

Mr Reed said they were also searching for an agronomist to speak about the benefits of healthy soil.

Attendees who may have their own heirloom tomato breeds are encouraged to bring them to the festival for discussion and competitions.
