WESTBURY captain Dane Anderson fell one run short of a century but helped his side gain valuable points in its quest for top spot on the Cricket North first-grade ladder with finals approaching after recording a 73-run victory over Launceston in a one-day match at NTCA No.1 yesterday.

Anderson was run out on 99 by Launceston’s Tom Bennett, but the skipper’s knock helped the Shamrocks record a total of 225 from its 50 overs.
The Westbury bowlers then did the job required, dismissing Launceston for 152 in reply off 45.2 overs.
Anderson was the standout in the Westbury innings with opener Daniel Murfet making 39 at the top of the order, Sean Leatherbarrow 28 and Richard Howe 27.
Ben Fraser was the pick of the Lions’ attack taking 3-41 off his 8.4 overs and Jackson Miller took 2-40, off 10.
Launceston opener Dom Chatfield hit 86 to be the anchor of the innings but there was little support as the Lions lost regular wickets.
Michael Lukic picked up good figures of 3-24 off his 10 overs, Joey Cullen took 2-18 off seven and Nathan Parkin 2-50 from 10.
MOWBRAY kept its chances of playing finals alive with a 53-run victory over Riverside in the game at Youngtown.
In a low-scoring encounter, the Eagles made 7-141, and dismissed Riverside for 88 in reply.
Matthew Scolyer top-scored for Mowbray with 67 not out and Liam Reynolds made 21.
Riverside spinners picked up the most wickets with Ramesh Sundra taking 3-25 and Alex Kerrison 2-19.
In the Riverside innings, Peter New top-scored with 26 and Oliver Law made 24 but along with Nick Garwood (14) they were the only batsmen to make double figures.
Three run outs proved costly with Reynolds and Wayne Richardson picking up two wickets each for Mowbray.
