"I want to be more of a general on the floor and really try to assert myself as a more talkative player because I'm naturally a shy person but I need to be louder and more vocal on the court," she said.
"I'm really hoping to get a WNBL gig next year which I missed out on this year and and asserting myself as one of the best point guards is something I am definitely thinking about."
The 25-year-old from Adelaide was keen to return for her third consecutive season with the Tornadoes despite fielding offers from rival SEABL clubs.
With new head coach Reece Potter at the helm, she is confident the Torns are capable of improving on their six wins from the 2014-15 season.
"Launceston has a special place in my heart now and I really like the community down here and have made friends," Mansfield said.
"The program has good people in it and plenty of potential.
"There are a few changes and I spoke to the coach and got some good vibes from him and felt good about returning.
"Reece seems to know his stuff and has a bit of a different style to Peta (Sinclair) and what we're used to.
"I think that will be good for us and he is talking about pushing the ball for our team and I think that will suit us as a team and I'm sure there will be a big focus on our defence as well."
After missing out on a spot in the WNBL, Mansfield has been training hard in the off-season working on her shooting and building her fitness in the gym and weight room.
"Looking at our team - we've got four of us coming in as imports with Alex Wilson, Emilee Harmon and Mikaela Ruef, and the two bigs will be good because we've always been a lot shorter than our opponents.
"Along with the locals like Emma Russell who is improving year after year, I think we will compare well with other teams and I hope we can get more than six wins on the board.
"I hope we can push for finals and it's about getting the team together and seeing what we can do."
