The Melbourne band is part-way through its Bad Blood tour, and will stop into Tassie next week for a show at either end of the state.
The tour celebrates the birth of the album of the same name, which was freshly released on February 20.
Bad Blood is the second album for the four-piece, following on from I'm Not Right in 2013.
It was recorded at the Hothouse in St Kilda, which is new territory for the band, drummer Jake Laderman said.
"We booked nine days originally [but] we realised we were going to need another one.
"We'd booked a show in Melbourne half-way through recording, which was pretty stupid because Stevie's [singer] voice just didn't hold out," Laderman said.
"The studio was amazing — it was a really positive vibe in the studio.
"The songs came out sounding just how we wanted them to, and the studio gave them a really clean sound."
Laderman said the album had already had a positive reception, even though it hasn't even reached its one-week birthday.
"We've seen people at shows already know the words to a few of the new songs, and that's great to see," he said.
"We worked really hard on this record. We started writing it in January last year and said 'we're going to record this by November'.
"It was testing. Friendships were tested and we all got on each other's nerves but we're really happy with the end result.
"It's really given me hope that this will be the best tour we've ever done."
When Clowns spoke to X-Static, they'd just finished their Queensland dates of the tour.
Joining them on the 14-date run are Texan band American Sharks, who Clowns hand-picked.
If you follow either of the bands on social media, you'll see that Clowns are being diligent hosts, showing their guests the Australia sights - like big landmarks and tropical cyclones.
"They seem like they're having a good time, it's their first trip overseas," Laderman said.
"We've had a couple of big nights, they've got tattoos, and they've really made the most of telling Australian jokes on stage."
Next week, Clowns will hit Tassie, playing a show in Launceston and Hobart.
On Wednesday night, you can catch the band at Club 54 in Launceston, and at the Brisbane Hotel in Hobart the following night.
