"We're going to get a vending machine out there for right handed slings," he said. "I think it would make a lot of money."

Injury after injury has derailed the Kings chances this season, none more hampering than those to NBA star recruit Josh Childress and captain Ben Madgen.

Both will once again sit in slings on the sidelines when the Kings play Melbourne United for the second time in a week at Hisense Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Cotter was not in the mood for hyping up the contest on Friday, "we are just about done with the "rarara," he said.

"They'll go out there and have a crack. This is a young group under siege and they deserve more."

He said both he and the players were frustrated with the failure of the squad to execute after loosing by three points, 91-88, to Melbourne at the Kingdome on Friday night.

If there any silver lining to the disappointing result, captaincy looked like it suited Kings guard Tom Garlepp, he led through the scoreboard, bagging 22 points.

He said that he just wanted to "finish the season on a high," on Sunday but that the Kings already had an eye on next season.

"I just can't wait for the future. I really believe we are on the right track."

Madgen confirmed he would be fully fit for next season after suffering a dislocated shoulder in last weeks game against Wollongong.

He said he was impressed with some of the younger team members who have had to lift their game to full his and Childress' shoes.

"It was great to see some guys get the opportunity to step up. It is a very talented young team, that is why we are so committed to this path we are heading down."

The Kings confidence in their playing group has left fans hoping that next season will be more fruitful than the nine wins and 18 losses this season brought.

Cotter seemed determined to hold the squad together as they head into their final matchup.

Their chief destroyer on Friday night, United's Daniel Kickert, whose team has also struggled this season, offered this advice.

"The top teams, their core has been there for many years and that is invaluable," he said.

"It brings in a culture of its own and thats how they win championships."
