Hore has been undefeated in the single scull this season but can expect stiff competition from Huon clubmates Georgia Nesbitt, Sarah Hawe, Alex Hayes and Eleni Kalimnios along with Tamar's Ciona Wilson and Meaghan Volker, of Buckingham, in what should be one of the highlight races of the weekend.
Mersey's Taylor Wilczynski has peaked for this championship after a couple of years out of the sport with a serious back injury, but Sam Volker (Bucks) has pushed him all the way in recent races. Both have experience as senior champions and are regular training partners.
The men's lightweight single scull sees Huon's Toby Pitt facing challenges from Tamar's Oli Cook and Brendan Longman, while the women's event will see Nesbitt start favourite.
Wilson Mure won silver in the under-23 singles at the NSW Championships last weekend and will be chased by Richard Giblin and Toby Pitt, of Huon, and Tamar's Mitch Digney and Oli Marsden.
The regatta gets underway on Saturday morning with the under- 19 women's eights where Derwent Mercantile Collegiate will be challenged by Sandy Bay, Friends, Grammar and Scotch Oakburn, while the men's event should see a close race between Hutchins, Friends and Scotch.
Rowing Tasmania reports strong fields in all categories of under-17 and under-19s, predicting Ulverstone and Mersey to lead the charge.
The introduction of under-21 racing has left under-23 races a bit bare, but they still have high quality fields. Jacob Cooper and James Cocker were key contributors to University winning its second state pennant and should have a close race in the pair with New Norfolk's Nat Graham and Matt Byrne.
The women's legs, trunks, arms single scull race brings together Sara Waitzer (Uni), Emma Jago (Mersey), Nicole McKillop (Huon) and Rutland Klintworth (North Esk) and in the men's event, Isaac Denholm (Hutchins), Dave Emmett (Lindisfarne) and Alistair Chong (Uni) are likely to fight out first place with arms-only rower Malcolm Hall (North Esk).
