The Tasmanian Roar all-rounder is the first female recipient of the Adam Gilchrist Scholarship, which will see the former Scotch Oakburn student travel to England this winter to play county cricket.
''I know that it is a very good competition over there, similar to the domestic standard here, so it will be a really good challenge for me,'' she said in Launceston today.
''I feel I started to mature as a player and feel more confident out on the field [for the Roar] this summer and I am starting to feel at home and comfortable and finally starting to contribute.
''Being able to go on this trip is going to help further that, and I'm going to gain more experience, which will help my cricket on and off the field.''
Phillips, a right handed batter and right arm medium bowler, will leave for England in April.
It is yet to be confirmed which County she will be playing for during her five month stay.
As well as her on-field roles, she will also be involved in coaching and public relations activities.
