Eaves won two races at Carrick on Saturday including the Tasmanian Country 3YO Championship with One Mans Pass.

The gelding’s fast-finishing win over Smileturner and Joan Grant may have earned him a ticket to Melbourne as well.

‘‘I might take him with me – the mare needs a travelling companion,’’ Eaves said.

‘‘He’s one of the nicest horses I’ve trained and I thought he might have measured up to the good ones last season.

‘‘His trials suggested he would.

‘‘But everything went wrong when we took him to Victoria.

‘‘He had feet problems and he started tapping his knees.’’

One Mans Pass, driven to victory by Adrian Collins, is raced by Barynya’s owners Lloyd and Judy Whish-Wilson.

Eaves also won Saturday’s Trevor Mazzone Memorial with Weona Masterpiece.

Barynya leaves for Melbourne tomorrow and will launch her four-year-old campaign at Melton next Saturday night.

‘‘She will then go to Sydney for a race the following week leading into a final a fortnight later,’’ Eaves said.

Barynya was voted Australian three-year-old filly of the year last season.
