THE Launceston Cup will see sporting action take place as the annual gallops launch with gusto next month.
For the state's fashionistas, however, the race to find the most cutting-edge styles has already begun.
A cup tour before the iconic races will be held from 6.30pm at the Hotel Launceston on Thursday, February 5.
The grand finale of the Launceston Cup Trail could contain the key for those wanting to avoid being left behind in style, according to fashion designer Sue Rees.
Ms Rees said people could see the cup up close while being treated to a show of the latest designs.
"It's featuring all the latest styles of millinery, from Susan McArthur, Glenfruin and Leona Nowland," she said.
"All the exclusive millinery will be available for purchase on the night."
Tasmanian Turf Club chief executive Bruno Calabro said it was the first time the cup trail had been run to promote the event, one of the biggest social occasions for the North.
"We have people come from almost every state to the Launceston Cup," Mr Calabro said.
"There are already people booked in from Western Australia, NSW, Victoria and Queensland — there are people who book the marquees and come every year."
The cup trail will hit the Deloraine Hotel tomorrow before travelling back to the city.
The Launceston Cup will be held on Wednesday, February 25.
