VETERAN galloper Uboa gets a chance to win his first race since joining the Barry Campbell stable in the time-honoured Carrick Plate at Mowbray tonight.

The eight-year-old has raced six times for Campbell and was unlucky not to win first-up when beaten in a deceptive photo-finish by Spinning Jenny at Spreyton in September.
His five runs since have all been sound including a last-start eighth to Lander Dollar in the Devonport Cup.
Tonight he drops back in class to a benchmark 82 race, steps up to his favourite distance of 2100 metres and will carry less than the minimum weight after the claim for apprentice Rasit Yetimova.
Four of his eight wins have been over similar distances.
Uboa began his career with trainer Graeme McCulloch and was prepared for a short time by owner Darren Kenny before joining Campbell at the start of the season.
The Carrick Plate is one of Tasmania's oldest races, having first been run in the mid-1800s.
However, it has been allowed to lapse on several occasions and details of past winners are sketchy.
Campbell won it in 1984 with Ensign Boy. Uboa's rivals tonight include recent Longford Cup winner Cherry Dancer, 2014 Devonport Cup winner Red Eagle and 2013 Tasmanian Derby winner Ollie's Gold.
Night racing will take a break next week in the lead-up to the Tasmanian Derby-Hobart Cup double-header at Elwick on February 6 and 9. Mowbray will resume on Wednesday February 11 with the Magic Millions meeting, followed by the Vamos Stakes on Wednesday February 18, Tasmanian Oaks on Sunday February 22 and Launceston Cup on Wednesday February 25.
