Legana District Lions Club vice-president Owen Bantick said the group's first fund-raiser had been a success and urged community members to join.
"Our first fund-raising effort was extremely good and the people supported us very well," Mr Bantick said.
"We would like new members to make us viable."
Mr Bantick said between 12 and 14 people attended the group's meetings but Lions hoped to expand that number.
"We need more than 20 to be recognised as a fully fledged district," Mr Bantick said.
"It's a great place to engage with others and make good friendships with like-minded people."
Mr Bantick said the Lions club worked to create better outcomes for people locally, nationally and internationally.
He labelled the organisation one of the world's greatest humanitarian organisations.
"In a way it's promoting good citizenship," Mr Bantick said.
The Legana District Lions Club meets the third Tuesday of every month at the Legana Community Hall from 7pm.
People interested in joining can contact David Ball on 0419 139 260 or leganadistrictlionsclub@gmail.com.
