Thirty-six nine to 16-year-olds participated in the four-day workshop at Port Dalrymple School thanks to the sponsorship of the school, Communities for Children and the George Town Council.
Port Dalrymple School principal Philip Challis explained that each day was divided to allow students time to attempt a new instrument, refine existing skills, put their voices to the test and work in a team setting as a band.
"New and lasting friendships are forged during this time, created around a mutual love of music and a shared experience of overcoming fears as they step onto the stage and strut their stuff," Mr Challis said.
Mentors and instructors - some of whom participated in previous rock schools - were on hand to help with the program devised by Katrina Miller.
" Although mentors are essential to Rock School's success, the backbone of its existence goes to the community musicians, music teachers and support staff who give four days of their holidays in return for petrol money and the chance to see students become active participants in the making of music," Mr Challis said.
"The Rock School owes a huge thanks to the team of nine inspirational music support staff in residence this year."
